Illinois Central College "Between the Lines" Program Features the Alchemist

What does it take to pursue a dream? Join Librarian Jessica Bastian as she discusses the ICC Library’s “One Book, One College” 2016-2017 selection, The Alchemist by Paulo ,Coelho Arbor Auditorium on the ICC North Campus, located at 5407 N. University St., Peoria.

Bastian will give an overview of the book and introduce the audience to Santiago, a shepherd, who embarks on a journey to find his personal legend. We will travel with him as he encounters strange lands, obstacles, and frustrations and celebrate with him as he inches closer to his goal. She will share the major themes and life lessons represented in the novel, highlight the places Santiago visits, and read a few selected passages from the book. Even if you haven’t read the book yet, feel free to attend!

“Between the Lines” is a lecture series presented by the faculty members of the English, Humanities and Language Studies Department at ICC.  The goal of the series is to offer literary presentations which will interest students and people in the community as well as promote reading literacy and scholarly study.
